INSTALLATION GUIDE - F-84F Thunderstreak - NATO camo set
Extract all the files into your CFS2 or FS2002 root folder. The necessary sub-folders will be created automatically.
ALTERNATIVE TEXTURES -
To keep download times to a minimum, The main zipfile has only the USAF texture set. The other two camo texture sets (Greek and Belgian AF) are available on the F-84F's download page (accessed when you typed in the password). These zips will extract as usual into the root folder of CFS2 or FS2002, the files will then go where they are supposed to.
After installing the new texture sets, re-start your sim if was already running and you will in CFS2 have as before three F-84F's listed, except now when you enter the game they will be textured ! NOTE - the preview window will often display the textures of the last F-84F, even though you have selected a new one. This is normal and is caused by the texture filenames being the same. The aircraft you select will have the right textures once you enter the game. In FS2002 there will be two additional aircraft in 'variations', these will now be textured.
CFS2 USERS :
1) Note on WEAPONS : Some CFS2 weapons are included. Extract the seperate weapons zipfile into the CFS2 root folder the same way as you did for the aircraft.
2) Note on SOUNDS : CFS2 does not use the normal default Learjet sounds. Either install the Learjet from FS2K or CFS1, or edit this aircraft's sound.cfg (with Notepad) to point at some jet sounds you already have. UNLESS YOU DO THIS THE AIRCRAFT WILL NOT APPEAR IN CFS2 !
3) Note on CFS2 SMOKE EFFECTS : there is an additional file called fx_eng_exhaust_gry.fx. This will automatically be put in your \Effects folder and will provide a very realistic subtle smoke trail behind the aircraft.
FS2002 USERS :
1) Note on MODEL - an alternative model is included for use in FS2002. This model will have permament drop tanks fitted under the wings. It is kept in the folder 'FS02 model' - just backup the default model file (F-84F-Thunderstreak.mdl) and copy the new one into the F-84F Model folder.
2) Note on PANELS : an alternative panel.cfg is supplied which is for FS2002 use only. This will allow use of the GPS facility. Just rename the existing file to panel CFS.cfg and change FS02 panel.cfg to panel.cfg.
3) Note on FS2002 SMOKE EFFECTS : there is an additional file called fx_eng_exhaust_gry.fx. This will automatically be put in your \Effects folder and will provide a very realistic subtle smoke trail behind the aircraft. Toggle the smoke on or off with the i-key.
